Oh, Anne

slate informed me today that the book, off of which one of my favorite movies is based, anne of green gables, turned 100 in june. so, as a tribute to bringing imaginations to many for the past century, the following is a list of endearing quotes from the movie. well, at least, i find them endearing. :)

there MUST be a limit to the mistakes one person can make, and when i get to the end of them, then i'll be through with them. that's a very comforting thought.

there she weaves by night and day, a magic web of colors gay. she has heard a whisper say a curse is on her if she stay to down towards camelot. she knows not what the curse may be and so she weavith steadily, the lady of shallot.

my life is a perfect graveyard of buried hopes. that's a sentence i read once and i say it over to comfort myself in these times that try the soul.

ruby gillis says when she grows up she wants to have a line of beaus on a string and make them crazy for her, but i'd rather have one in his right mind.

How could you possibly omit this classic tribute to the bosom-friend:

Farewell, my beloved friend. Henceforth, we must be strangers living side by side... but my heart will be ever faithful to thee.

ya know, i've never read "anne", but i appreciated this post because it was a change of pace from the "me/her" stuff that has been sailing over my head at a very high altitude...
