Reaching

is it sad that a television show would drive me to want to go back to school? i don't think there is ever a wrong reason to want to go back to school ... but, well, let me explain. i've been a bit obsessed over west wing lately (library card + dvds = happy) and i know it's only loosely based on reality, but something about it makes me want to get involved with government. i already am involved to some extent ... but i want to do more. don't get me wrong, this yearning does not stem only from watching the west wing (because that would be beyond ridiculous) ... it's always been there, but lately the little spark has turned into a blaze. so, i've thought about going back to get my masters in public policy ... a thought i actually entertained a couple of years ago, but was chicken. at that time, i was thinking of applying to a program in which you'd earn your jd and a masters in public policy at the same time. but i think that was a lofty goal. i'd love to study the law, but don't want to be a lawyer. and so here i am ... wanting to get in the game, not quite sure how, but knowing full well i'd excel at it.

the maintenance required light is now off! and for those who told me the correct way to do it and i ignored you because i thought you were wrong ... well, i'm sorry. because you were right. i was wrong. and you don't hear that often from me, so treasure it.

Sweaters and Shoes

a friend of mine sent me this article from mental_floss magazine (really? mental floss? really?) about mr. rogers because he knows about my dislike for that show. i don't know what it was ... but i just couldn't make sense of that program. to this day, my mom likes to mention the fact that i would get mad when he came on tv ... turn it off ... and prepare for sesame street (snuffleupagus, represent!). and because i turned it off immediately, maybe i never gave it a fair shot. but, honestly, i could never get past the changing of his clothing. WHY? why take off your sweaters and shoes ... and change into sweaters and shoes that are EXACTLY the same as the ones you just took off? who has only indoor shoes? that's right ... nobody.
